How it works
From Twilio credentials to clear reports in minutes
Revloy reads your message, call, and usage logs through Twilio’s API, stores the details that matter for reporting, and keeps them fresh in the background. Here’s exactly what happens.
-
Step 1
Create your Revloy account
Sign up with your name and email. Your 7-day free trial starts right away with every feature unlocked, and no credit card is needed.
-
Step 2
Connect your Twilio account
Paste the Account SID and Auth Token from your Twilio Console. Revloy checks them with Twilio, then lists every subaccount under your main account. Choose which ones to include, and switch any of them on or off later.
Prefer not to share your Auth Token? Connect a single account with an API key and secret instead. Twilio doesn’t let API keys read subaccounts, so use the Auth Token for a main account that has them.
-
Step 3
Choose how much history to import
Pick 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, or everything Twilio has available. The import runs in the background, newest activity first, so this week’s numbers show up while older history fills in. A progress bar on the dashboard shows how far along it is.
-
Step 4
Stay in sync automatically
From then on, Revloy checks Twilio for new activity every 15 minutes. There are no webhooks to set up and nothing to change in your Twilio account.
-
Step 5
Explore your reports
Pick any date range and see messages sent and received, delivery rate, calls, talk time, and spend. Switch between messages and calls, chart by volume, segments, minutes, or cost, and filter the table down to a single number.
Sync schedule
What runs, and when
Three background jobs keep your reports current. They run on their own, around the clock.
Messages and calls
New messages and calls are pulled in. Each sync also re-reads the 48 hours before it, because Twilio fills in delivery receipts and prices after a message is sent.
Usage and spend
Daily usage and cost from Twilio’s usage records, including carrier fees, refreshed for the last three days to catch late adjustments.
Subaccounts
New subaccounts under your main account are discovered, and status changes are picked up, so your account list never goes stale.
Your data
What Revloy keeps, and what it never touches
Reporting needs to know that a message was sent, when, to whom, and what it cost. It doesn’t need to know what it said.
What we store
- Message and call IDs from Twilio
- From and to numbers
- Date and time
- Direction: inbound or outbound
- Delivery status and error code
- Segment and media counts
- Call duration
- Price and currency
- Daily usage and spend totals
What we never store
- Message bodies
- MMS images and other media
- Call recordings and transcripts
Your Auth Token or API key secret is encrypted at rest and never displayed again. Revloy only reads from Twilio. It never sends messages, places calls, or changes your account.
Good to know
The fine print, in plain English
- History goes back up to 13 months
- Twilio makes message and call logs available through its API for 13 months. If you’ve shortened message retention in your Twilio account, less history will be available.
- Prices arrive after the fact
- Twilio prices messages and calls after they complete, so a brand-new message can show no price for a few minutes. A later sync fills it in.
- If your credentials stop working
- If Twilio rejects your credentials, for example after you rotate your Auth Token, syncing pauses and your Twilio accounts page tells you to update them.
- Dates are shown in UTC
- Charts, totals, and the activity table use UTC, matching the timestamps Twilio records.
- Spend comes from usage records
- The spend total uses Twilio’s daily usage records, so it includes carrier fees and other charges that individual messages don’t show.
- After your trial
- If your trial ends before you subscribe, your dashboard locks and syncing pauses. Your data is kept, and syncing catches up on the gap as soon as you subscribe.
